Privacy Policy

1. Information you provide

• Account information — your name, an optional username, your email address, and a password (stored only as a secure hash — we never store or can see your actual password).
• Meal & nutrition data — meals you log, including any photo you upload, text descriptions, ingredients, and the calories, protein, carbs, and fat we calculate for them.
• Body & goal data — age, height, weight, and nutrition targets you enter, used to personalize your calorie and macro goals.
• Diabetes Mode data (optional) — if you turn on Diabetes Mode, blood glucose readings and insulin notes you attach to a meal. This is sensitive health information you choose to provide. It is never included on a public meal share page, even when the meal itself is shared.
• Support messages — if you contact us, we receive your name, email, and message.

2. Information collected automatically

Our servers log standard technical data for every request — IP address, browser/device type, and timestamps — used for security and diagnosing issues, not for advertising.

Our website uses only the minimal session and security (CSRF) cookies needed to keep you signed in and forms working. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and the app itself contains no analytics or advertising SDKs.

3. How we use your information

• To turn a photo, description, or chat message into calorie and macro estimates.
• To calculate and track your personalized nutrition goals.
• To sync your logged meals with Apple Health or Google Fit, if you connect one and opt in.
• To authenticate you, keep your account secure, and send account emails such as verification codes.
• To respond to support requests.
• To detect abuse, prevent fraud, and enforce our terms.

4. AI-assisted meal analysis

When you log a meal by photo, description, or chat, that photo or text is sent from our servers to our AI provider, OpenAI, to identify ingredients, estimate portions, and calculate nutrition. OpenAI processes this data under its own API terms and does not use it to train models for other customers. We only send what's needed to analyze that specific meal.

5. Health app integration

If you enable Apple Health or Google Fit sync in Settings, GiveMeMacros writes your logged nutrition data to that platform. This is entirely opt-in — you can revoke access anytime from your device's Health/Fit permissions, without affecting meals already logged in GiveMeMacros.

6. Subscriptions & payments

Subscriptions are sold and billed entirely through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your payment card details — Apple and Google share with us only your purchase and subscription status (e.g. active, expired), which we use to unlock premium features on your account.

7. Sharing your meals

By default, meals you log are private and visible only to you. You can mark a meal "restricted" (viewable only via a private link) or "public" (also visible in the in-app feed, where other users can see your name/username and like the meal). Regardless of visibility, glucose readings and insulin notes are never included on a publicly viewable meal page.

8. Who we share data with

We share data only with the following, and only as needed to run the app:

• OpenAI — meal photos and descriptions, for AI analysis (see Section 4).
• Apple / Google — for subscription billing and, if you opt in, Health/Fit sync.
• Our email provider — to send verification codes and reply to support requests.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics networks — we don't use any.

9. Data retention & deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from the app; doing so immediately and permanently deletes your profile, logged meals and photos, health/nutrition data, and AI conversation history from our database. This cannot be undone.

10. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can:

• Update your profile and nutrition goals anytime in the app.
• Turn Diabetes Mode or Health/Fit sync on or off anytime in Settings.
• Delete your account and all associated data from the app.
• Contact us at support@givememacros.app for any other request, including data-access or deletion requests we can't yet handle in-app.

11. Children's privacy

GiveMeMacros is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed password storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
